the Blog Flogger ; TCS newswire ; Blogging's effects are Mind Bloggling ; It seems there are many reasons for and certainly many manifestations of personal and corporate Web logs. Web log tools are produced by many companies and individuals. It is possible to create your own Web log environment on your personal or virtual server. Most Web log users or publishers have their "Blog" hosted for free, with services like Gooogle’s’ "Blogger". Gooogle’s approach is very much about free speech and free enterprise. Some Bloggers use any number of free "Blogging" tools and templates combined with free hosting. Alternatively publishers as in the Google approach use the free templates and services while hosting the Blog on their own private or virtual servers.
Blogs are a natural evolution of many collaborative tools in use or of the recent past. Blogging started in the mid nineties, and soon after were dubbed "weB logs" , which became "Blogs" Most people still think of Blogs as personal diaries because many blogs are streams of consciousness, exhibitionism and voyeurism combined with other hyperbole presented with an "in your face’ attitude.
Blogs are now being considered by businesses because the technology also lends itself to creating content on business web sites. It is fundamentally just a content management system which can easily be implemented into any site for free. Businesses are using Blogs as a way of publishing info about their particular area of expertise, news about the company’s offers, product or schedule updates. In some cases, this is done formally, perhaps coming out of the marketing, promotions or communications department - and in other cases, employees maintain Blogs on the company web site as an extra feature of the site. For some corporate cultures, Blogging is banned altogether, while in others Blogs are essential real-time collaboration tools.
Search Engines use a mechanism for selecting or evaluating the collective information across the web - 'filtering' or 'pre-surfing' - the significance of each Blog is largely dependent on the expertise of the authors. Search Engines use a number of criteria to determine top ranking and number one placement. An expert plan must be formulated to avoid being lost in the sea of Blogs that is dominating the Web. Many Blogs use simple self referral tactics to up their ranking by creating circles of links back to associate web sites. Freshness is always a key to many of the top 400 search engines. Some Bloggers take the tactic of posting fresh content often. Bloggers attribute prominent placement to the frequency with which they publish new material and the fact that other sites often link to their blogs. These are two factors most search engines take into account when determining rankings.
